With Your Spin Katja F.M. Wolf & Co complete their series IMPROBABLE SCENARIOS which is dedicated to the research of perception.
As there is no such thing as silence there is no such thing as absolute stillness! We cannot know how it is not to move. Physical bodies are even in stillness abuzz with micro-movements of various sorts. While the planet seems to be resting underneath our feet it racingly spins around its axis, simultaneously revolving around the sun. How complex are therefore supposedly simple acts like walking or turning around one's own axis!
The new performance for two dancers and soundscape in a video installation by Monika Pirch challenges the viewers's kinetic sense and plays with their sense of colour. It opens up a monochrome scenery which juggles with perception and deception of spatial imagination and the subjective sensations of colour. Dance, text, video and soundscape merge in a multi-layered symbiosis engaged in a common quest: to research curiously and asociatively the tricks and traps of expectations and sensations. Triggered by the performers' fluent, sensuous play and their questioning of the contents of their minds, we experience how what we hold to be true is impregnated by what we imagine and remember.
