MEETING POINT 70 - a motion report
MEETING POINT 70 is the code name of a so called 'operative occurrence' of the national security agency (Stasi) of the GDR. It signifies the voluminous protocols of the Stasi about the choreographer's family in their Leipzig period. They start in 1970, the year in which Wolf was born. Together with the mother's laconic calendar notes from the same period they are the starting point of a performative research devised for several stages.
After two scenic readings in Jena and Leipzig and a public showing of the work of three rehearsal weeks at the 23rd North German Theatre Meeting in OsnabrÜck the full length piece premiered on September 1st 2005 on the Duesseldorf stage of the Forum Freies Theater. Mülheim an der Ruhr and Leipzig were further stations on the tour.
Katja F.M. Wolf deals in her piece 'MEETING POINT 70 - a motion report' with the vulnerability of the private sphere and the penetration of the executive power into the family life.
A team of eleven different artists socialized in East and West Germany has developed a piece which approaches the still virulent German-German history as a biographic field research. The interdisciplinary work using the possibilties of dance, acting and puppetry in combination with video and sound design offers the public multiple perspectives on a thrilling narrative of childhood memories, fragments of documents and living culture.
